For 2013 we are joining together once again to show the love of Christ and this year, the Christmas Give is getting a whole lot bigger! We’ve upped our goal from 450 to 800 pair of brand new shoes!
Here’s the plan:
-We’re heading to Eakin Elementary on Thursday, December 12 to throw a huge party for the kids at the school, their families and teachers! We’ll be munching on cookies, hot chocolate, crafting and we’ve heard that Frosty is going to make an appearance! We’ll also have the privilege of putting brand new shoes on the sweet little feet of our Eakin friends.
-We’re heading back to Weinland Park Elementary on Saturday, December 14 for one of our favorite days of the year! We’ll be flipping pancakes, singing, crafting and of course letting Santa know what’s on our list! And our favorite thing … fitting each student their with brand new shoes. It will be a blast!
-We’re making a stop at the Homeless Families Foundation on Monday, December 16 for a fun afternoon of yummy cookies fun crafts, dancing and much more! We’re bringing with us a ton of warm winter boots for the homeless children in their after school program and 100 brand new warm winter coats for the parents in the program!
-We’re going global to our friends in San Salvador and providing each child in the Child Development Center in San Salvador a brand new pair of shoes. The Rock City team that travels there in March of 2014 will be presenting the shoes. It will be awesome!
-AND, we’re supporting families in need this Christmas to show them the love of Christ. This might mean making sure the heat is working as families prepare for a cold winter or helping a single mom put gifts under the tree this Christmas. With your help we hope to be able to meet many needs this Christmas season.
You can partner with us in two ways:
Please join us in praying for those who will be impacted by the Christmas Give this year. May they experience God’s love.
Last week, the central islands in the Philippines were devastated by Typhoon Haiyan. Below is a letter from our Lead Pastor, Chad Fisher, to the people of Rock City in response to this disaster. Please join us this weekend and next at Rock City to help make a difference.
Dear Rock City Family,
Last week, the central islands in the Phillipines were devastated by Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms in recorded history anywhere in the world. Over 700,000 people are reported homeless and an estimated 10,000 have died. The number of people who are hurting and in need of hope is staggering.
As a church, our desire in the face of this type of tragedy is always to respond wisely and generously and to do what we can to deliver hope. Our leadership team has decided that, as a start, now through the end of November, we will double One for One each week and send financial aid directly to our partner Samaritan’s Purse who already has feet on the ground in many parts of the Philippines.
Earlier this month, we made a One for One commitment to the Columbus Homeless Families Foundation to provide warm winter coats to the children their organization serves. We were able to fully meet their need in just 2 weeks, which means we’ll be able to give nearly $6000 through One for One to Samaritan’s Purse in the Philippines.
I’m asking that you join with me in praying for our brothers and sisters in the Philippines and that you make every effort possible to join us in this effort. For every person, each week, who walks through our doors, at both our Regal and Lennox locations, we’ll be able to give, not one, but two dollars to help meet this great need.
I am so thankful for the heart of this church that responds quickly and decisively when faced with the opportunity to make a difference. As we grow, our ability to make an impact grows.
Truly, we cannot out-give God! He is supplying our needs and He is using us to meet the needs of the hurting, and to make a difference in the lives of those around us.
And this is only the beginning…

Over the past three years, we’ve been blessed to send many teams and provide financial support to our friends and partners in Honduras and San Salvador. This week, we met with several of the leaders of the GCLA and were able to present them with October’s One for One funds that will build a home for a family in Choluteca, Honduras. This home will move a family from extreme poverty, into a safe and healthy environment.
This is the third home Rock City has been able to provide for in Choluteca and the third family that Rock City has been able to radically impact. We are so grateful for the continued generosity and faithfulness of the people of Rock City that make it possible for us to continue to GO and DO.
We’re taking a bunch of trips to Choluteca, Honduras and San Salvador in 2014 and we’d love for you to join us and see for yourself what God is doing there! You can click HERE for more info!
This weekend we had the pleasure of featuring the great work of The Garden Church as we presented them with over $5700 through One for One! We are always excited when God connects us with organizations that are making a difference both practically and eternally in our city.
Over the past nine months, our team has been learning from and connecting with the leaders of this ministry and one of the things we have been most impressed with is their work and effort with the children in the Weinland Park community. Each and every Saturday, The Garden Church opens their doors wide to these kids, providing them with a nutritious meal, education, mentoring and enrichment. We are very excited to be able to partner with them in their Super Saturday program and offer this volunteer opportunity up to the awesome people of Rock City.
If you are interested in being a part of Super Saturdays and making a difference in the lives of the students in our city, shoot firstname.lastname@example.org an email and we will get you the info you need. You can choose to volunteer once or twice a month or every week.

We had a blast when Victor Turcios, Lead Pastor of Great Commission Latin America, San Salvador came to visit the great city of CBUS several weeks ago. Victor and his team have been leading the fight against poverty in San Salvador and we love the vision he has for giving hope to the children in his community. Through the generosity of Rock City Church, we were able to present Pastor Victor with $50,000 that will go directly to finishing the construction of a Child Development Center that will be home to over 120 children.
Thanks Rock City for your commitment to being the church.
