A Look At The 2015 Backpack Give

Posted on: September 19, 2015

Here’s a quick recap of the amazing things that happened through the 2015 Rock City Backpack Give:

With this year’s Backpack Give, we were able to impact students, teachers, and parents of eight Columbus City Schools. And through the Rock City Teacher’s Assistance Fund, 200 teachers and administrators were blessed with $25 Amazon gift cards. They can use these funds to buy supplies and materials for their students and classrooms.

Thanks to our partnership with Chick-Fil-A we received over 10,500 school supplies donated by numerous people throughout the Columbus area. This allowed us to reach even more students, teachers, and families locally than we have ever done before. Over 1,100 students received a backpack full of school supplies and the confidence knowing they can start the school year prepared with all of the tools they will need.

A huge THANK YOU to all of the amazing volunteers who gave their time and made donations to the Backpack give 2015. Over 200 Rock City volunteers showed up and ensured not only that each back-to-school event ran smoothly, but also that each child, parent, and teacher left with a smile.

It is an amazing thing to see our church step up and give back to our city’s future generation and those who are helping mold them each and every day.

Beyond the Backpack Give, we have an opportunity to invest in the lives of the students on a regular basis by becoming a Reading Buddy at one of our partner schools. As a volunteer, you can provide guided reading support, basic learning skills, and much more. Time commitment averages 1 to 4 hours a week during the school day.
