Franklin County Jobs & Family Services – PRC Program

PRC provides financial assistance, up to $1,500 one-time per year, to households with children (specifically, 1 minor under 18 or woman in 3rd trimester) to avoid an eviction.

Utilities & Internet Services

  • Service Description: AEP, City of Columbus Water & Electric Departments and Columbus Gas of Ohio utilities has temporarily suspended non-payment disconnections during the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • Effective As of Friday, March 13 , Mayor Ginther announced that The Department of Utilities will be suspending water and power shut-offs. The suspension will last until April 15.
  • Spectrum/Charter Communications: Families without internet will be able to get the service at no cost for 60 days from Charter Communications/Spectrum. To enroll, call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.
  • Comcast/Xfinity: New customers will receive 60 days of complimentary Internet Essentials service, which is normally available to all qualified low-income households for $9.95/month. They will not disconnect a customer’s internet service or assess late fees if you contact the company and can’t pay their bills during this period.  To sign up, applicants can visit: www.internetessentials.com or call 855-846-8376 for English and 855-765-6995 for Spanish.
